The Thieves' Forest is a large woods east of the city of Aerith. The heavily forested region is some 250 km across and roughly 60,000 square kilometers in total. These dense woods are difficult to traverse by horse or wagon and various trails crisscross the woods in a confusing network. This notorious forest is named for being home to various bandit groups. It has proven a reliable hideout for many thieves seeking refuge from the law. At any time, there are likely four or five bandit gangs and several dozen thieves camping out in this wood. It's position amongst the roads of Vorrik make it ideal for bandit groups. They strike at caravans and travelers and then retreat into the forest to count their stolen loot. Town militias in the region do their best to keep the roads safe and bring these criminals to justice, but the Thieves' Forest is too large to search and too easy to hide in.
